About Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a highly focused state of attention in which one is able to access a wealth of unconscious resources for self-growth and change. Hypnosis is actually a natural phenomenon, sometimes occurring spontaneously. An example of that is when you have the experience of finding yourself immersed in a compelling daydream, drifting off and possibly discovering a new solution to an old problem. Another name for hypnosis is trance. Trance also occurs when you become absorbed in a book, music, artistic creation , or in conversation with another person. A two hour period can seem like half an hour.

Hypnosis is a scientifically verified, natural and effective technique that can promote positive accelerated human change. At Succeed Hypnotherapy, we can create desired changes in behaviour and encourage mental and physical well-being.

Hypnosis is simply a method to get the conscious mind to step aside and allow the subconscious mind to come forward. In the altered state of hypnosis a hypnotherapist talks to the subconscious mind directly. This state is also called a state of heightened suggestibility. Our conscious mind has four functions:

The conscious part of the mind is responsible for the following four tasks:

1. Analytical - it is a problem solver

2. Rational - it reasons to why things happen

3. It houses Will Power - from where we draw a short term boost of determination toward a solution

4. It holds short-term (temporary) memory

The unconscious part of the mind is responsible for three tasks:

1.     Habits (Good, Bad, Utility)
o        Good Habits - those that are productive
o        Bad Habits - those that are destructive (smoking, compulsive eating, etc.)
o        Utility Habits - Closing the door when leaving, covering your mouth when sneezing, etc.
2.     Emotions
3.     Long Term (Permanent) Memory

Habits – all habits are a function of our unconscious mind. This is why hypnotherapy is so useful at correcting unwanted habits because it works at the same level of the mind that the habit resides. It is also the reason why using willpower alone is so ineffective because will power is a function of the conscious mind.

Emotions – all emotions, including unresolved anger and fear are located at the level of the unconscious mind. This is why hypnosis works so well at alleviating panic, self-doubt, poor self-image, and self sabotaging programmes etc because it is working at the emotional mind level.

Long-term memory – The unconscious has recorded everything that has happened to you or that you have learned since you were born. All events are available to your unconscious mind, including those you have consciously forgotten or repressed.

 What is Hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy utilises your imagination, teaches you to relax and know yourself, and sometimes learn things about yourself you can be pleasantly surprised about. Hypnotherapy enhances your imagination, creating mental expectancy and bypasses the judgment and preconceived notions, so you can achieve anything you want, by simply focusing on your goals through hypnosis.
Hypnotherapy is any therapy, which employs hypnosis as the main means of treatment, with the purpose of positively altering the patterns of behavior, thoughts or feelings of the subjects. This therapy is directed to eliminate feelings of physical or emotional discomfort, alter a person’s thoughts, perceptions and behavior, and direct to further improvement, as per clients’ directions.

Today's hypnotherapy utilises advanced contemporary techniques to improve one's general health by promoting deep relaxation, improving self-confidence and a sense of well-being. Hypnotherapy utilises a deep ‘meditative’ state and proven behavioral modification techniques in which a client can achieve greater clarity in goal setting and awareness. The techniques allow identifying the causal factors for problems and issues, remaining in the subconscious mind, while in hypnotic state, and releasing the negative, or destructive patterns of habits, through positive suggestions. Although there are many different hypnotic inductions, most include suggestions for relaxation, calm, and well-being. Most people describe the experience of hypnosis as very pleasant.
Hypnotherapy is not a type of therapy, but a procedure that can be used to facilitate therapy. It has been used in the treatment of pain, depression, anxiety, stress, habit control, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and many other psychological and medical problems.

Hypnotherapy is a very powerful tool to unlock your mind's great ability to heal itself. Hypnosis can be used to modify perception and behavior in a multitude of areas.
At Succeed Hypnotherapy clients enjoy a safe and quiet, interactive environment. They are taught stress reduction techniques including breathing exercises and self-hypnosis to facilitate change,  learn coping skills and other techniques pertinent to their problems.

Hypnotherapy Misconceptions:

1. When hypnotised people think they would be asleep and not remember anything. They are often surprised to find out that they are totally aware of the surroundings, the hypnotherapist's voice, and noises in the room, traffic outside, etc.
2. Another misconception is that they will be made to do things they would normally refuse to do. The client needs to understand that he/she cannot be made do anything that violates their moral, religious and personal convictions. A client will retain a full and accurate memory of everything during the session after the session is over.
3. You cannot get stuck in hypnosis. Once the voice of the hypnotherapist announces that the session is over, the client opens his/her eyes and feels awake, alert and clear minded.
4. You cannot disclose the secrets you want to preserve.
5. You cannot do anything against your free will.
6. There is no such thing as a hypnotised feeling, the experience is different for everyone
7. You can speak if asked or want to
8. You can hear everything said to you
9.  You can move, cough, itch without it affecting the hypnosis
10. You are in complete control

The benefits will not ware off. Because changes brought about under hypnosis are self-rewarding - the effects will become stronger over time.

Ultimately hypnotherapy is a session between two people to achieve a desired outcome.
At Succeed Hypnotherapy you have our word that we will be compassionate, non-judgmental and at all times, have your best interests at heart. Together we will work to resolve the difficulty in the fastest and most effective way possible.
